From Quidditch to Quenya 2

Quidditch basical terms were translated in a previous post. Now more technical terms will be analyzed and translated from quidditch to quenya.

            from colca “box” and paimetánë that is the past tense of paimenta-“exact or inflict a penalty; punish”

Highest goal post = arhalla corma

            from halla “tall” that with the suffix ar-  became arhalla “the tallest”

Lowest goal post = arsenna corma

            from senna “short” that with the suffix ar-  became arsenna “the shortest”

I translate this terms from quidditch to quenya for the image of a quidditch pitch made by Jørgen Helgeland Stenløkk. I also thanks Juliane Schillinger that make a first version of the translated pitch image.

To translate also the length unit I decide to use the ranga (pl rangar is attested, 7Es#6), a Númenórean linear measure “slightly longer than our yard, approximately 38 inches [= 96.5 cm]“. –UT:285, 461.

The basic meaning of ranga was “full pace”. Number are written using the elvish duodecimal number system.
